Put Your Hearts Up is the debut single of American singer and actress Ariana Grande. The song premiered on Ryan Seacrest's radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS FM on December 9th. It has been released as a digital download.[1] The song was intended for Ariana's debut album Yours Truly.
Recording and writing
The writer of this song is reportedly BC Jean (best known for Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy"), Matt Squire, and Martin Johnson. The song includes a sample of the rock band 4 Non Blondes' song "What's Up?" written by Linda Perry.[2]
Release and cover
Ariana let her fans be a part of choosing the single artwork by sharing four possible covers for the single on her Twitter. After the fans voted, this cover was chosen and the release date for "Put Your Hearts Up" was also revealed via her Twitter account.
After premiering on Ryan Seacrest's radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS FM on December 9th, the song was available for digital download on December 12. The song debuted on the US iTunes Charts at number 61. After about one day it fell to number 87; afterwards it fell off the US iTunes chart. Her single also peaked at number 25 on the US Pop Songs Chart.
Music video
The music video for "Put Your Hearts Up" was shot on November 23, 2011. It was released through YouTube on Ariana's VEVO channel on Valentine's Day, 2012. In the video, Ariana walks by the streets of a city sending love to lonely people while dancing and singing. The music video was directed by Meiert Avis and Jeremy Alter. When the music video for "The Way" was released, the music video for "Put Your Hearts Up" was changed to 'unlisted', meaning it can only be viewed now if you have the original link.

- In several interviews during 2013, Ariana admitted to having completely disliked "Put Your Hearts Up" and not having an interest in pursuing music of that genre.[4] She expressed a desire to make the type of music she grew up listening to, which was, "urban pop, 90s music."
- When the music video for "The Way" was released, the video for the song was taken down Ariana 's YouTube channel. Even though "Put Your Hearts Up" is not on VEVO anymore, another YouTuber uploaded the music video on their channel in May 2013 which currently can be viewed.
