"Somewhere Over The Rainbow" (originally titled "Over the Rainbow") is a song originally sung by Judy Garland from the 1939 movie, The Wizard Of Oz.
Ariana Grande covered and released the song on June 6, 2017, as a charity single to raise money as part of her benefit concert One Love Manchester, after 22 people were killed in the Manchester Arena bombing at Grande's concert on May 22, 2017.[1] It was released through Republic Records. The song peaked at No. 60 on the UK Singles Chart.[2]
Live performances[]
Grande performed the single for the first time on TV at the One Love Manchester concert on June 4, 2017. Beginning on June 7, Grande added the song to her Dangerous Woman Tour setlist for the remainder of the tour.[3][4] On January 21, 2023, Grande posted a shortened two-minute long version to TikTok.[5] In the caption, Grande addressed concerns about her absence from the music scene. While acknowledging comments from fans about her lack of recent musical releases, Grande shared that she has been dedicating all of her time and energy to working on two movie musicals.[6]

Lyrics[]
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Way above the chimney top
That's where you'll find me
Oh, somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Oh why, oh why can't I?
Someday I'll wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Way above the chimney top
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why, then oh why can't I?
If happy little blue birds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh, why can't I?
